Hungary participated in the twenty-fourth edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Tengaged which was hosted in Bruges, Belgium. The Hungarian entry was selected through the national competition A Dal 13, organised by the Hungarian broadcaster MTVA. Hungary was represented by Linda Király with the song "Runaway". The entry qualified from the second semi-final and finished 6th with 147 points.
Before Eurovision Tengaged[]
MTVA announced that Hungary will participate in the twenty-fourth edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Tengaged, despite the poor results from last edition.
A Dal 13[]
The format returned to the new system format with 2 rounds. MTVA presented the 4 candidates with some familiar faces in it.
A total of 18 country juries took part in the jury voting, whose votes were added up to the televoting later. The final started on 7 December, ending on 14 December 2016. The winner announcement took place on 15 December 2016 where Linda Király was announced as the big winner and win the right to represent Hungary in Eurovision Song Contest Tengaged 24 with her song "Runaway".
At Eurovision Tengaged[]
On 20 December 2016, the semi-final allocation draw for the Eurovision Song Contest Tengaged 24 took place. Hungary was drawn to perform in the second half of the second semi-final.
Linda Király finished in the sixth place with 147 points recieving 12 points from the Belgium and Estonia.

Hungary participated and had to vote in the second semi-final. In the final, Hungary announced their votes as 1st.
